It has been announced that Lucas Laurido will be charged with something to be determined as of this point, but the investigation is still ongoing according to a Law official sources say.
Earlier today in a brief interview, Florida Highway patrol Kim Montes said the following:
“We’re kind of just in investigation mode. I know it’s hard for a lot of people, especially the family, is he going to be charged? He will be charged with something, but it’s really just too early to say.”
Digging deeper into the incident, according to the Boston Globe the van stopped at the middle of a congested highway during the evening rush on Tuesday when a pickup truck rear-ended at full speed, the van along with two other vehicles unaware of the slowdown ahead on 429.
In my opinion, although he was devastated he did something really bad one way or the other. As mentioned in the previous post "Tropic Tragic" he recently just got a driver's license. So there's one indication, the fact he is an inexperienced driver. He can use that as a defense for the incident.
But either way, the Florida DOT could possibly suspend his license for an undetermined amount of time or revoke his license. There is a possible chance he was driving distractly, texting on his phone to this friends, or had sleep anema coming home from a long day work or was possibly running late.
Either way, the Florida highway patrol felt so badly for the Smith Family and its relatives, they will investigate as hard as possible to charge him on "something."
