Sumner Travel alternatives: Part 2 - Silver Line

Last time on my adventures around Northeast suburbs of Boston, I took the Blue line and found it to be mostly a smooth ride into Downtown Boston from East Boston, Winthrop, and Revere.

Let's say you are coming from the North Shore or somewhere in Chelsea and you need to get to the airport. In this blog post, I'm going to find out if the bus portion of the commute from just northeast of Boston is reliable. I got on a Silver Line 3 Bus at around 6:55am on a Thursday morning. Throughout the right, there wasn't too much of an issue with the route since I go to the station in around 20-25 mins. Of course this was doing Thursday's morning rush so the boarding process might've slowed the trip down but this is bus rapid transit and of course the MA government has been telling people to ditch the drive, along with the traffic on the main roads SL3 had to use to get to the airport.

I decided to get off the bus at the airport station and hop on the Blue Line to get to Boston, because of according to various news articles about the Sumner Tunnel shutdown (not the Summer), the Ted Williams Tunnel would be so congested it would take forever to get into Boston.

By the way, speaking of the delays and the setback the route had to deal with, the bus was new and I didn't find any issues.

Speaking of the Blue Line from the previous blog post. There was no slow zones south of the Wood Island Station as far as I knew and the ride from Airport to Downtown Boston was quite very reliable for me to say the least.

Here's an advice to those Silver Line Riders who is taking it from Chelsea. Allow yourself extra time to get to the airport since in the mornings can get crowded and slow. When I check the commute time from Chelsea to Airport, times on Google maps says it takes around 7-10 mins. Allow extra time to get to the airport since there would be longer boarding times, the bus would wait at traffic lights for more time than you expect, and there might be traffic on the bridge.

After all, if you are waiting at the airport you need to give yourselves all the times you need to catch your flight since there are also long lines at the airport as well.
