I want to take this time to reflect how important is it for us to know how we need to be very respectful to women. Even though International Women's day was yesterday, March 8, 2023, today is March 9, 2023 and I just want to emphasize the importance we should appreciate all the women out there.
Where it all Started
The phrase respecting women started all the way back in middle school when I was talking to new classmates in school, it took me a while to start getting along with teenage women at that point since I, like most of my family members didn’t really talked a lot since my family is Chinese and really did not socialize a lot, despite having some Asian neighborhoods and venues within the Greater Boston area, which is where I live.
But, I have learned from one of my long lost friends that I have to be respectful to ladies. And this was the lesson Throughout the years, I have learned how to respect women from learning how to protect boundaries do I don’t invade their space, how when to walk away when they get angry and try to work it out. I have also learned to impress them by showing them dance moves like showing them some cool dance moves on the dance floor or in my adult/college years on the dance floor
What International Women's day really means
On Yesterday, March 8, 2023. It is the day where we honor all the women out there for all the good things they are doing, and this year’s theme is Embracing Equality. According to the International Women’s Day site, Equity is a must-have trait for all of us, that can create an inclusive world for all of us. In my opinion, I think everyone needs to have a fair chance and be treated fairly regardless of how they look, act, or how nice or mean they are, and not be biased for who or what they really are. We are all human and it is very important for us to understand that women just want to be good as the guys.
I have met women throughout college and while I am commuting on my way to work and they brought tremendous impact to my life starting from High School. I have met several women that has help me throughout my life and just want to make sure I am feeling mentally fine (just like my bro friends would) and because of that, I, on occasion check in with my female friends to make sure they are doing okay too and what is on our minds for the week and possibly the weekend. I feel it is important for us to do it to make sure we are doing mentally okay, and I am staying positive, even in the worst of times.
On the International Women’s Day website, there are a list of stories of women working in the construction and technology industry (I have some of my friends working in the construction business), as well as women acting like leaders or being in a leadership position, and women who are trying to make a change in the world and I am very grateful women are doing this.
The reality is, Women are striving to be like men and are just asking to be respectful to them regardless of who they are. In my opinion, men should treat women the same way people would treat an old person, or some special person from a royal family.
Consequentially, there are also stories on the website stating there is still gender bias at workplaces such as giving them lower pay for being a women or being micro aggressive at women or handing the promotion over to another person. I am plan on attending those events in regards to the bias issue and finding ways to stop it and have a respectable workplace that everyone can get paid equally and get promoted equally.
There is a common phrase among one another, “Treat the way you want to be treated.”
And if we are mean to certain girls, maybe us men should learn from our own mistakes and learn how to become more of a respectable person for women. It’s never too late to start learning about this.
And for all the women out there reading this blog post. Keep doing all the good things to the world from being a good leaders and caring about others and working in tough fields such as construction and technologies.
Happy belated International Women's day to all the wonderful women out there.
